Valerian was an inspiring project. A lot of concept were made in pre-production but the director was always keen to discover new options.
I worked on different sequences but I especially enjoyed working on the intro with the alien airlock design. I used Zbrush to model the airlock and Lookdev/Lighting with Clarisse.
The tunnel was created with Maya, rendered in Clarisse and augmented in Photoshop.
The team and I created a full procedural starfield with nebula in Nuke. The planets were done with Zbrush and Clarisse, the starships using Clarisse and Photoshop. The layout and animation of the ships have been done in Nuke using cards and optimized geometry.
